Zainab Balogun returns to the big screen in the feature debut of OAP Shola Thomspon.
Tell Me More
Written and directed by Shola Thompson, Last Call is a thriller film inspired by his experience as an On-Air Personality.
Last Call gives an expose into the life of a renowned female On-Air Personality and Influencer known as Hauwa, who prepares to bid her farewell to her radio show, only to receive a phone-in call from a psychotic call that unfolds events from her past.
This film embodies extraordinary stars such as Zainab Balogun alongside Valentine Ohu, Seun Ajayi, Bimbo Oshin, Ayo Mairo-Ese, Laura Pepple, Obi Maduegbuna, Oshuwa, Halimah Ganiyu, Fiona Davies and FitMike.
Produced by Lanre Awolokun, under Cinefix productions, the feature is distributed by Silverbird Distributions.
From Adesegun Adetoro (MoviePencil, Gangs of Lagos EP), Adenike Adebayo (Screening Room, Chemistry), and now Shola Thomspon (Last Call) – Nollywood has fully entered its era of Movie critics turning filmmakers who want to tell bold stories.
Hopefully, we might see more of this transition as the industry gets more robust opportunities and funding initiatives. And perhaps how the critic’s experience translates on-screen – Improved and Better or the art suffers the same mistakes, letdown will be quite the observation.
Shola Thompson is regarded as a veteran in Radio, Film, and Television in Nigeria. He began his career on radio in 2003 at Silverbird’s Rhythm 93.7 with a syndicated weekend program titled ‘The Silverscreen’.
He was quite popular as the host of the ‘Rhythms of the Night’ show. Shola worked as a cinema consultant and played a key role in the launch of Silverbird Cinemas in 2005. He was a Talent Manager for MTV Base Africa with the role of critiquing and fixing videos submitted for broadcast to their headquarters in South Africa and currently works at Smooth 98.1FM.
Last Call is his first feature film which will be screened at the cinema on the 2nd of February.
Everyone anticipates the film written and directed by the OAP being his first feature film as a film critic. There’s so much to look forward to as people will love to see how he incorporated his film and cinematography ideas into his first feature film.
You should see this thriller come February 2nd.
