Actors Guild of Nigeria Appoints New Special Advisers, Dates Film Festival

Recently, the Actors Guild of Nigeria appointed special advisers members. Here are their names and their roles.

Currently being presided over by Ejezie Emeka Rollas, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN)  is the governing body for professional actors in Nigeria’s Nollywood film industry. The Guild was formally established in 1998 to represent screen actors who entertain the Nigerian public and educate the global public about the essence and legacy of Nigerian culture while fostering professional awareness and defending the rights and interests of their members.

Since its establishment, the guild has had over one million members from across the six geopolitical zones of the federation. With Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu as the national secretary, the guild has six vice presidents from the six geopolitical zones of the country.

The vice presidents are Nazareth Bako Jesse (North Central), Marcus Maina (North East), Michael Yusuf Michael (North West), Bukola Fagbuyi (South West), Clement Anigbo (South East), and Mokilese Osain Joseph (South-South).

The guild has Kate Henshaw as the director of communication, Emeka Duru as the national finance secretary, Lolo Oby Kate Okafor as the treasurer, Engineer David Akuma as the director of guild services, Chelsea Nwodo as the assistant national secretary, and Kea Adams as the national chief whip.

Film Festival 

 The leader of the Guild, Dr Ejezie Emeka Rollas, unveiled the 2nd edition of the Actors Guild of Nigeria International Festival which is set to be held from 8 to 10 August 2024 in Los Angeles, California in the United States of America.

The 2024 edition promises to surpass its previous year’s edition which was held between November 16 to 18, 2023 in Miami, Florida, United States of America.

According to Emeka, the 2024 edition of the festival will run in association and close partnership with Africa Travel Film Festival (AFTRAFF) and in collaboration with Dream Magic Studios, a subsidiary of Silverbird Group. Present at the August event in February where, Actors Guild of Nigeria Board of Trustees Chairman, Emmanuel Ogugua, alongside Joke Silva who is also a member of the BOT.

The festival is convened by the guild’s national president, Emeka Rollas Ejezie. It will have Ben Bruce as the chief host. The theme of the event is The Actors Marketplace (TAMP).
