Joel Cicero Emerges VP & Founding Executive of NSLS, San Francisco State University Chapter

Joel Cicero, a Nigerian actor, talker, writer, and theatre research expert, has been appointed as the Vice President and Founding Executive Board Member of the San Francisco State University (SFSU) chapter of the National Society of Leadership & Success (NSLS). The NSLS is America’s largest leadership honour society, dedicated to empowering students to achieve personal growth and career success and make a positive impact in their communities.

In a congratulatory message, Ericka Jazmin Gonzales, representing the NSLS, stated, “We believe you to be the perfect fit to serve as a founding executive board member for the SFSU chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success. I am pleased to offer you the position of Vice President. Congratulations!”

Joel Cicero, a graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Benin, Nigeria brings a wealth of experience and a passion for leadership to this role. As a recipient of numerous accolades, including the Editor’s Choice Award for the International Society of Poets (2004/2005) and Runner-Up for the Sparrow Poetry Prize (2009), Cicero has consistently demonstrated his commitment to excellence and community engagement. His play The Sceptre was featured in the LoveWorld Festival of Music and Arts (LFMA) cavalcade in Johannesburg, South Africa, further showcasing his global impact.

In his new role as Vice President, Cicero will play a pivotal role in shaping the SFSU chapter of the NSLS, fostering a culture of leadership, and empowering students to reach their full potential. “Leadership is not just about guiding others; it’s about inspiring them to believe in their own potential and take action to create positive change,” Cicero remarked.


“As Vice President of the SFSU chapter of the NSLS, my focus is to create opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, forge meaningful connections, and make impactful contributions to society. It’s an honour to serve in this role, where I can empower students, nurture leadership, and help create a legacy of positive change. Together, we can build a community of leaders dedicated to making a difference,” Cicero said.

Joel Cicero will collaborate closely with the executive board and chapter members to implement initiatives that align with the NSLS mission, inspiring students to lead with purpose and passion. Additionally, he has engaged in a leadership program and honed success skills alongside notable figures such as Kevin Hart, Andrew Yang, Kelly Ripa, Mehdi Hasan, Bozoma Saint John, and Daymond John.
