The Story⚡
Seven years after Avengers: Endgame, a second film has finally crossed the 100,000-admissions line in West Africa, and it did so with ₦725.89 million at the box office.
Tell Me More
Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues the story of Peter Parker four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The world has forgotten that Peter Parker exists. Living alone and fully committed to his role as Spider-Man, he protects New York City from street-level threats while watching from a distance as the people he once knew move on with their lives. The isolation and constant pressure begin to trigger a change in him that he cannot fully control. At the same time, a powerful new threat emerges, one that no one can see, forcing Peter to confront both the danger to the city and the personal cost of the life he has chosen.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The screenplay is by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the writing team behind previous entries in the series. It is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Rachel O’Connor for Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios and Pascal Pictures, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. Michael Giacchino composed the score, with cinematography by Brett Pawlak. The film runs 145 minutes and carries a PG-13 rating.

Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker / Spider-Man. Zendaya reprises her role as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, and Jacob Batalon returns as Ned Leeds. The supporting cast includes Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan / Scorpion, Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman as Bill Metzger of the Department of Damage Control, Liza Colón-Zayas as Detective Jean DeWolff, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and Marisa Tomei. Additional roles feature Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln / Tombstone and others expanding the street-level world around Spider-Man.
A Historic Opening in Numbers
In West Africa, the film opened to strong results. The numbers break down as follows:
| Category | Figure |
| Preview Gross (Wed–Thu) | ₦120,511,972 |
| Traditional Opening Weekend (Fri–Sun) | ₦605,378,608 |
| Total Opening Weekend | ₦725,890,580 |
| Opening Admissions | 101,706 |
| Historical Note | Only the second film in West African history to surpass 100,000 opening admissions |
| Only Other Film | Avengers: Endgame (2019) – 118,575 admissions |
The 101,706 admissions figure places Brand New Day second only to Avengers: Endgame. No other title has reached this threshold in the region. The result reflects the combination of long-standing franchise recognition, advance interest and wide theatrical availability that few releases manage to assemble at the same time. While local films continue to set their own commercial markers, the scale achieved here shows the level of demand that can still be generated when those elements align.

In Summary
Spider-Man: Brand New Day now stands as the second film ever to open above 100,000 admissions in West Africa. The next chapter of its run will show how far that rare start can extend.
