Áfàméfùnà

Áfàméfùnà: An Nwa Boi Story,” the upcoming film from Come On Naija, is the first feature-length film on the Igbo apprenticeship system and how it revitalised the community’s economy by allowing successful Igbo men to pass on their knowledge and blessings to apprentices, perpetuating the cycle of wealth creation.

Directed by Kayode Kasum, the film features a remarkable cast that includes Kanayo O. Kanayo, Stan Nze, Alexx Ekubo, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, Segun Arinze, with appearances from Jide Kene Achufusi, and Noble Igwe. Omobayowa Alabi produced the film, which was executive produced by Lawumi Fajemirokun and Kenechukwu Egbue.

Silent Night is an upcoming American action thriller film directed by John Woo and written by Robert Archer Lynn. The film stars Joel Kinnaman, Scott Mescudi, Harold Torres and Catalina Sandino Moreno, and features almost no dialogue. Principal photography began in April 2022, in Mexico City.

The film stars Eddie Murphy, Tracee Ellis Ross, Robin Thede, Nick Offerman, Chris Redd, and Jillian Bell.

Shaka Ilembe

Shaka ILembe is a South African series that explores the story of the making of the iconic African king, from his childhood through to adulthood, during the 1700s. Produced by Bomb for M-Net’s channel Mzansi Magic, the series tells the story of the greatest African warrior to ever live King Shaka and his quest to fight for his throne. It stars Nomzamo Mbatha as Queen Nandi KaBhebhe and Senzo Radebe , as King Senzangakhona kaJama.

Poor Things is a 2023 black comedy fantasy film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos from a screenplay by Tony McNamara.  The film stars Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, and Jerrod Carmichael. The film its plot focuses on a young Victorian woman who, after being crudely resurrected by a scientist following her suicide, runs off with a debauched lawyer to embark on an odyssey of self-discovery and sexual liberation.

Osato is directed by Charles Uwagbai, and written by Prisca Okeke and Etinosa Idemudia. The ROK Studios-backed project follows the journey of a street girl who is struggling with the line of her work and is caught in a web of criminal activity.

Big Brother Winner Josephina Phyna Otabor plays the lead role with Shawn Faqua, Femi Branch, Daniella Ogie Moses, and Mercy Aigbe starring in the big screen crime drama.

Slum King Finale

Africa Magic’s drama thriller, Slum King, will see its final season on the 10th of December. The series follows a traumatized tout, seeking redemption for his dastardly actions,  who is forced by a drug cartel network on a path paved with drugs, blood, and gore to become the coveted Slum King.

Initially released in 2022, Play Dead is a game of cat-and-mouse. When a student fakes her death to steal evidence from a morgue, she finds that the scariest thing is not the dead but the living. Directed by Patrick Lussier, Play Dead stars Bailee Madison, Jerry O’Connell, and Anthony Turpel.

Agu

Agu is a six-part series that tells the story of legal practitioner and an alcoholic, Etim, who tries to revive his failing career by representing his new-found friend and traditional worshipper, Pius , accused of murdering his friend in a forest.

Etim finds himself up against another colleague,  with whom he shares a dicey past, on the case, not to mention, a stern boss Lola , who would go to any lengths to ensure her company isn’t dragged in public. The film stars  Kanayo O. Kanayo, Nonso Odogwu, Ruby Okezie and Ireti Doyle.

Agu is scheduled to premiere on Showmax on December 14, 2023.

Yu Yu Hakusho Series

YuYu Hakusho is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. The series tells the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenage delinquent who is struck and killed by a car while attempting to save a child’s life.

After a number of tests presented to him by Koenma, the son of the ruler of the afterlife Underworld, Yusuke is revived and appointed the title of “Underworld Detective”. With this title, he must investigate various cases involving demons and apparitions in the Human World.

Breath of Life

Written and directed by BB Sasore and produced by Eku Edewor, Breath of Life portrays the story of a former clergyman who loses everything he holds dear including his faith and goes on a journey of self-transformation when his life is taken over by his Christian houseboy.

The feature is led by Wale Ojo, Sam Dede, Tina Mba and Eku Edewor. Others include Chimezie Imo, Genoveva Umeh, Ademola Adedoyin, and Chidozie Nzeribe.

Reacher S2

Reacher follows the story of Jack Reacher, an ex-military police officer who wanders from city to city while becoming embroiled in ample, often dangerous mysteries and conspiracies. The Super Mario Bros is a 2023 American animated adventure comedy film based on Nintendo’s Mario video game franchise. Maestro is a 2023 American biographical drama film that centers on the relationship between American composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia Montealegre. It was directed by Bradley Cooper, from a screenplay co-written by Josh Singer.

It was produced by Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Cooper, among others. The film stars Cooper as Bernstein alongside Carey Mulligan as Montealegre; Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, and Sarah Silverman appear in supporting roles.
