This means for a N1 Billion gross, a N350M  – N450M cut is guaranteed as profit.

Known as the box office queen, the filmmaker’s run has not been short of successful, with Omo Ghetto: The Saga grossing 636m (2020), and Battle on Buka Street at 668m (2022).

Interestingly, the billion naira record was previously held by the Hollywood Sci-fi, “Black Panther 2” at N1.04B, making this achievement a major milestone for the film industry.

Going by this record, Funke Akindele has not only solidified her place as a box office mogul but also as a filmmaker who knows the desires of audiences, home and abroad and delivers.

This billion naira in ticket sales feat from a Nigerian film with Nigerian talent is also an encouraging pointer for exhibitors, film executives and watchful investors, especially in the post-COVID recovery stage of the big screen business.
