FilmOne Entertainment hosted its 2026 Exhibitors Showcase in Lagos, giving distributors, producers, and studio executives an exclusive first look at the films set to reach cinema screens in the year ahead.

Held under the theme “Global Stories, Indigenous Strength,” the showcase brought together key players from across the film industry, including distributors, producers, studio executives, talent, and brand partners. Attendees received a curated preview of upcoming Nollywood and Hollywood releases and gained insights into FilmOne’s evolving content strategy and its ongoing efforts to grow the cinema business across Africa.
The annual event went beyond simple film screenings to serve as a central meeting point, with conversations about storytelling, distribution, and audience engagement taking centre stage.
Chief Content Officer of FilmOne Limited, Ladun Awobokun, addressed the gathering and described the wider purpose of the showcase:
“Our Exhibitors Showcase goes beyond screening films. It’s about bringing the industry together, sharing ideas, and strengthening the ecosystem that allows great stories to reach audiences. Our 2025 performance underscores the scale of what is possible when strong storytelling meets the right platforms. We are proud to spotlight the incredible creativity coming out of Nollywood, while continuing to connect African audiences to some of the most exciting global stories.”

Kene Okwuosa, Group Chief Executive Officer of Filmhouse Group, spoke about the progress made and the outlook ahead:
“The milestones we achieved in 2025 are a reflection of years of intentional investment in infrastructure, partnerships, and people. This showcase is not just a look at what’s next on our screens, but a statement of our confidence in the future of African cinema and our role in shaping it for global relevance.”
The event also included a delegation from one of FilmOne’s long-standing international partners, The Walt Disney Company, South Africa. Among the representatives were Rochelle Knock, Country Head, The Walt Disney Company SA; Angela Garrad, Senior Manager, Media Sales and Partnerships; and Hilda Leiye Matjila, Studios Marketing Manager. Their attendance highlighted how these partnerships continue to expand the range and quality of films available to cinema audiences across the region.
