The Story ⚡
The Dragons are coming back to HBO as House of the Dragon Series. The long-anticipated prequel of the Game of Thrones is to premiere tomorrow. With this 10-episode series, you can expect the backstabbing, politicking, murder, and warfare that are associated with the works of George R.R. Martin.
So, as we expect thrilling experiences with this prequel, we will be keeping you up to speed with everything we know about the house of the dragon.
What is the plot of the house of dragon?
The House of Dragon has been scripted based on George R.R. Martin’s book which is titled Fire and Blood. The series is centered around the rise of House Targaryen as they aim to become the ruling dynasty in Westeros.
The House of Dragon covers the last third of George’s book which is the part where the horrible civil war that is known as the Dance of Dragons occurred. While the timeline which is the previous series was focused majorly on the game of thrones, the House of Dragon comes in slightly different.
The House of Dragon will come with time jumps as it features 200 years before the original series and decades before the dust settled. At the core of the movie, we see the decline of the Targaryen dynasty. The start of the show saw this dynasty being at the height of power.
Although after King Viserys I Targaryen made his daughter Rhaenrya his heir, different forces in the realm moved for or against the decision of the king. While some wanted the young princess, others wanted the power to be passed to someone else.
The idea that men would instead put the realm to a torch than see a woman ascend the iron throne will be on full display in this prequel as we see the Princess and her friend Alicent on different sides of the Dance of Dragons. You can expect this prequel to be explosive.
House of the Dragon Cast and Crew
Just as the Game of Thrones, the House of Dragon will feature a large cast. However, you should not expect superheroes Arya or Jon Snow to show up as the characters are compromised in this series. As the series is centered around the Targaryen dynasty, you will see a lot of them. You will also be seeing younger and older versions of different characters with the time jumps in the series.
The major acts in the series will see Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen with Milly Alcock as young Rhaenyra; Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Emily Carey as young Alicent; Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Paddy Considine as Viserys Targaryen, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Eve Best as Rhaenys Targaryen, Fabien Frankel as Criston Cole, and Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria.
The supporting cast in the series will see Bethany Antonia as Baela Targaryen, Phoebe Campbell as Rhaena Targaryen, Harry Collett as Jacaerys Velaryon, Ryan Corr as Harwin ‘Breakbones’ Strong, Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon Targaryen, Jefferson Hall as Tyland Lannister and his twin brother Jason Lannister, David Horovitch as Grand Maester Mellos, Will Johnson as Vaemond Velaryon, Graham McTavish as Harrold Westerling, Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, Matthew Needham as Larys Strong, Bill Paterson as Lyman Beesbury, Phia Saban as Helaena Targaryen, Gavin Spokes as Lyonel Strong, and Savannah Steyn as Laena Velaryon.
This series had two co-creators in Ryan Condal and as you would have guessed, George R.R. Martin. Condal is the main man of the series and Miguel Sapochnik, the director of Game of Thrones supports him. The composer of the Game of Thrones will be returning to score this series too in the person of Ramin Djawadi.
There have been many trailers of the series that must have built your expectations about it. You can expect the very best and you don’t have to wait too long anymore as the series will be premiering tomorrow.
