Showmax romantic love original ‘The Counselor’ debuts on 12th February

Shortly after Showmax’s relaunch, there have been announcements of new movies to be premiered in February. The new movies range from Sadau Sisters, The Counselor, Cheta’M, Dead Serious and Freemen.

One of which will premiere ahead of Valentine’s week is The Counselor which delves into the lives of Aisha and Gbenro, who are nursing wounds from previous “breakfasts” delivered by their partners just before Valentine’s Day. They somehow find themselves reluctantly thrown together on a non-refundable getaway originally planned with their now-exes.

Their unexpected meeting develops into a romance that quickly leads to an engagement. While preparing for marriage, doubts arise from Gbenro’s single mother. She is sceptical about the longevity of their sudden romance, prompting them to embark on a seven-day counselling session recommended to prove their love. The film explores the themes of love and marriage, single mothers and their overprotective streak, and the complexities faced in relationships through humour and depth.

Starring Teniola Aladese and David Okpo Eyo in the lead roles. With supporting cast like Eyiyemi Olivia Rogbinyin, Uzoamaka Anuinoh (Diiche, Riona) and Moyinoluwa Olutayo (Dear Mother, Worlds Apart).

The Valentine-themed love drama The Counselor was directed by Muyiwa Aluka and Produced by Hadizat Ibrahim.

It’s the season of love and you sure don’t want to miss out on any romantic titles. The Counselor might just be your best bet, you should see it on 12th February on Showmax.
