Insight
A Nollywood film that tells the story of a young boy following his passion is not a new trend in the Nigerian film industry. It is usually a case of a child from an impoverished home following his passion, which eventually rescues them from poverty.
‘When Love Strikes is a little different. A young boy is presented with two good options including following your passion or an opportunity of a scholarship abroad to study a really good course.’ ~ Damola Ademola (Executive Producer).
A sports genre film in Nigeria is quite uncommon. The producers were intentional about the choice of cast for the young athletes (Natse Jemide, Chuks Joseph, and Olugu) with the support of league teams and a football coach to tell an actual sports story.
Making a sports film in Nigeria is difficult, and When Love Strikes seems to be one of a kind.
