The Story⚡
A faith-based remake, Agbara Nla: The Return, has rewritten the October record books while new action and horror titles found their places on the chart. Five fresh films arrived, four entered the top 10, and one long-running superhero title kept climbing past the ₦2.4 billion mark.

Tell Me More
Nigerian cinemas recorded roughly ₦150.7 million between Friday and Sunday. Five new titles opened, and four of them immediately landed inside the top 10. The weekend belonged to a familiar leader that refused to yield, even as fresh competition arrived with different strengths, wide distribution for one, extreme per-screen averages for another, and solid mid-tier openings for the rest.
Agbara Nla
The faith-based remake Agbara Nla: The Return stayed at number one for a third weekend, taking ₦47.2 million from 7,656 admissions. That figure was down 37 percent from the previous weekend, yet the film still claimed 31.3 percent of the entire weekend’s box office. Its cumulative total reached ₦354.6 million. That sum pushed it past Venom: The Last Dance, which had earned ₦317,844,066 after its October 2024 release.
Agbara Nla is now the highest-grossing October release of all time in Nigeria, whether Nollywood or Hollywood, sitting ₦36.8 million clear of the previous mark. The film, a return to the 1993 Mount Zion classic, has drawn steady audiences with its story of spiritual confrontation in a village setting.
Street Fighter
The new live-action adaptation of the classic video-game series delivered the strongest opening of the weekend. It earned ₦35.7 million from 4,727 admissions across 71 locations. On Friday, it actually outpaced Agbara Nla, ₦11.2 million to ₦8.9 million, and continued to grow through the rest of the weekend. The film’s broad footprint and action appeal gave it an immediate second-place position and the clearest newcomer momentum.
Jailer 2
Rajinikanth’s Tamil sequel arrived in only seven locations yet finished third with ₦8.6 million. That produced an average of ₦1.23 million per location, more than double any other title on the chart. Sunday alone contributed ₦7.2 million, and average ticket prices hovered around ₦15,900, well above the rest of the top 10. Including Thursday previews, the film’s total stood at ₦10.5 million. The limited release and premium pricing created one of the weekend’s most efficient runs.
Other Mommy
The horror film about a young girl confronting a sinister entity that emerges from her closet opened in fourth place with ₦7.2 million from 1,147 admissions. Its focused story of domestic unease found an audience among viewers looking for something darker amid the action and faith-based titles.
Whalefall
Whalefall, the survival thriller about a diver swallowed by a massive whale, took ₦4.8 million and landed in tenth.
First Lady
First Lady, a Nollywood political drama centered on a high-profile wife navigating personal and public pressures, added ₦3.1 million and finished 13th. Both demonstrated that even mid- and lower-tier newcomers could still claim measurable shares of the weekend.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
In its twelfth weekend, the Marvel title added another ₦6.3 million and crossed the ₦2.4 billion mark. Its long theatrical life continues to provide a reliable baseline for the market even as newer films compete for attention.
The combination of a resilient local leader, a wide-release action opener, a high-efficiency limited run, and several solid mid-tier debuts produced a balanced and active weekend.
In Summary
Agbara Nla has set a new October standard at ₦354.6 million. Street Fighter, Jailer 2, Other Mommy, and the rest of the new arrivals have given audiences clear choices across genres. The screens are still busy. Go see the ones that interest you while they remain in cinemas.
