A year later, Kava has racked up more than 102,000 subscribers. What began as a bold experiment in African-owned distribution has, in the space of one year, turned into one of the more serious contenders in Nollywood’s streaming space.

The paid subscriber count crossed 102,000 within the first year. Registered users stand higher still at more than 270,000, reflecting the wider group of people who have created accounts. Growth has come from weekly title additions, region-specific pricing, and the ability to offer cinema releases shortly after their theatrical runs, which has proved especially useful for diaspora viewers.
1.8 Million+ Hours Watched
Viewers have already recorded more than 1.8 million hours of watching time. The figure tracks the expansion of the catalogue and the appearance of high-demand titles that have produced noticeable traffic spikes on the platform.
Available in 185 Countries
Kava can be accessed in 185 countries. Coverage includes Nigeria, the wider African continent, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Europe, and other regions with large African diaspora communities. Support for web browsers, mobile apps and smart TVs, plus offline downloads, has helped the service function across different markets.
125 Titles So Far
The combined library of movies and series now totals 125 titles. Starting from roughly 30 at launch, the catalogue has grown through regular weekly additions of post-theatrical films and a smaller number of series. The selection covers comedy, drama, romance, thriller, and supernatural stories drawn mainly from Nigerian creators. This steady increase in available content has been one of the main factors behind both subscriber growth and total hours watched.

Colours of Fire
Colours of Fire, written and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, follows Akinbode, a warrior from a dominant tribe played by Uzor Arukwe, tasked with hunting a beast believed to be unleashed by a rival clan. His journey leads him to Moremi, played by Osas Ighodaro, and reveals deeper truths about inherited hatred and forbidden love. The cast also includes Gabriel Afolayan, Mercy Aigbe, Femi Branch, and Ibrahim Chatta. It premiered in Nigerian cinemas on December 24, 2025, and arrived on Kava on August 7.
Big Love
Big Love tells the story of Adil, a young man passionate about chasing his dreams, and Adina, an independent woman focused on making ends meet at a graduate trainee camp. As their love deepens, Adina’s fears and a hidden secret threaten to destroy what they have built. Written and directed by Biodun Stephen, the film stars Timini Egbuson, Bimbo Ademoye, Shaffy Bello, Jaiye Kuti, Kalu Ikeagwu, and Seyi Awolowo. It first premiered in cinemas in June 2023 and joined Kava’s catalogue on August 13.
Kilanko
Kilanko: The Invisible Child explores the intersection of traditional beliefs and modern medicine through the story of an Abiku child and sickle cell, highlighting the grief and resilience of African mothers. Directed by the late Allwell Ademola and produced by Rotimi Salami, the film stars Salami, Saidi Balogun, Tina Mba, Ibrahim Chatta, and Afeez Abiodun. It premiered in cinemas on March 6, 2026, and joined Kava on August 13.
Devil in Agbada
Devil in Agbada follows three young strangers, wronged by a ruthless and vicious politician, who ally to bring him down, subjecting themselves to physical and psychological training to execute the justice society has failed to grant them. Directed by Umanu Elijah and written and produced by Chinneylove Eze, the film stars Erica Nlewedim, Linda Osifo, Efe Irele, Uzor Arukwe, Akin Lewis, Uche Jombo, and Alexx Ekubo. It premiered in cinemas in 2021 and joined Kava on August 27.
A Mama Deola Wedding Story: Kava’s First Original
Kava’s biggest milestone of the year came with the release of its first fully original production, A Mama Deola Wedding Story. The film marks the feature debut of Folagade Banks, real name Tobi Abiri Folagade, the skit maker widely known for his viral character Mama Deola, a comic portrayal of a typical Nigerian mother. Directed by veteran actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo, the film follows the Mama Deola universe into a full cinematic wedding story, blending sharp Yoruba humor with period detail drawn from the 1980s and 1990s.
Its cast includes Shaffy Bello, Toyin Abraham, Bukky Wright, Akin Lewis, Erica Nlewedim, Omowunmi Dada, Rotimi Salami, and veteran actress Idowu Phillips, popularly known as Mama Rainbow. One of its standout sequences features more than 600 cast members on set for a single wedding scene, described by Banks as the biggest ever staged in a Nollywood production. A Mama Deola Wedding Story premiered exclusively on Kava on September 3, signaling the platform’s shift toward commissioning exclusive content rather than relying solely on licensing existing titles.
