3. Alakada! Bad and Boujee (December 20)
Alakada! Bad and Boujee, the latest sequel in the beloved Alakada comedy series, is set to hit cinemas in December 2024. Produced by Toyin Abraham under her label, Toyin Abraham Productions, and directed by Toyin Abraham, the film continues the humorous escapades of Yetunde (played by Toyin Abraham), a woman who masks her insecurities by concocting extravagant lies about her social status. 4. The Waiter (December 20)
Directed by Toka McBaror, The Waiter stars Shaffy Bello, Deyemi Okanlawon, Regina Daniels, Rahama Sadau, Williams Uchemba, Toke Makinwa and many others. The action title tells the story of a waiter who unexpectedly gets caught in the middle of a hotel invasion, leading to a chaotic and thrilling adventure. The title will premiere in Nigeria, Ghana, and Liberia on December 20.
5. One Night Guest (December 25)
One Night Guest is a 2024 Nigerian-Ghanaian film that highlights the playful rivalry and enduring unity between the two West African nations. Directed by Peter Sedufia, the film boasts a stellar cast, including Yvonne Okoro, Majid Michel, Warri Pikin, Roselyn Ngissah, Ini Edo, Chidi Mokeme, James Gardiner, Lasisi Elenu, and Akah Nani. The title will hit the box office on December 25.

1. The Men’s Club Season 5 (Prime Video, December 4)
The Men’s Club (TMC) is a web series created and directed by Tola Odunsi. The series returns for its fifth season, introducing four new characters—Kashope, Francis, Obinna, and Tokini. This younger, adventurous group brings fresh energy as they navigate life’s twists and turns, staying connected and supporting one another along the way. The Men’s Club Season 5 will premiere on Prime Video on December 4.
2. When Love Strikes (Prime Video, December 5)
Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, the film follows the story of a promising young footballer who must choose between following his dreams of soccer and returning to college in order to support his family. It stars Ademola Adedoyin, Jimmie Akinsola, and Bimbo Akintola. When Love Strike will premiere on Prime Video in December 5.
3. Princess on a Hill Season 1, Episode 5 (Showmax, December 12)
Princess on a Hill tells the story of Zara Osara, a young woman with big dreams who unexpectedly rises to the pinnacle of corporate power through a reality show competition she won, making her debut in the most powerful boardroom in the country. The series premiered at the 13th AFRIFF last month, November 2024.
4. Seven Doors (Netflix, December 13)
Seven Doors, Femi Adebayo’s directorial debut, is a Netflix limited series set in pre-colonial Yorubaland, exploring themes of culture, love, and betrayal. The story follows a Yoruba king and his Igbo queen, whose harmonious union is disrupted when a Hausa investor introduces a scheme that threatens the kingdom’s traditions and stability. The series delves into how cultural clashes and power struggles test relationships and legacies. The all-star cast includes Femi Adebayo, Chioma Akpotha, Adebayo Salami, Jide Kosoko, Muyiwa Ademola, Gabriel Afolayan, Ronke Oshodi, and Aisha Lawal. Seven Doors premieres on Netflix on December 13, 2024.
5. Christmas in Lagos (Prime Video, December 20)
Christmas in Lagos is a heartwarming holiday film from acclaimed filmmaker Jade Osiberu, known for her hits like Gangs of Lagos and Isoken. The story captures the essence of Lagos’ Detty December, following four friends as they navigate love, heartbreak, and self-discovery during the festive season. Fiyin believes her best friend Elo is her true love, only to face a twist when he returns with plans to propose to another. Meanwhile, Gbemi is torn between two romantic interests, and Ivie, visiting from London, unexpectedly finds love. The cast includes Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Shaffy Bello, Wale Ojo, Angel Anosike, and Afrobeats stars like Adekunle Gold, Waje, and Ayra Starr. Produced and directed by Jade Osiberu, the film premieres on Prime Video on December 20, 2024.
6. Danfo and the Rose (PVOD, December 25)
Danfo and the Rose is produced by Laju Iren, the producer of Loving Amanda, which was a top movie on Amazon Prime Video last year. Danfo and the Rose is directed by Michael “AMA Psalmist” Akinrogunde. It stars Sam Dede, Akah Nnani, Adunni Ade, Seun Ajayi, Sunshine Rosman, among many others.

1. A Christmas Gift (December 1)
The Nollywood drama A Christmas Gift intertwines the lives of Nelson and Morayo, two strangers brought together by a grandmother’s heartfelt wish. Set in a vibrant Nigerian community, the film explores love, redemption, and self-discovery. Following Grandma’s passing, her final request unites the modern Morayo and resourceful Nelson in preparing Christmas meals for her neighbours. Despite clashing personalities and emotional scars, their journey leads to humour, healing, and unexpected romance. Celebrating hope, African heritage, and Christmas magic, A Christmas Gift premiered on December 1, amassing 27,157 views till the time of writing this report. It is produced by Lady Laide Media.
2. A Heart on the Line (To Be Disclosed)
An original series from BluuTV by First Bank, A Heart on the Line is directed by Abimbola Craig. Though the launch date for the show is yet to be disclosed, it will premiere on YouTube sometime in December 2024. It stars Akin Lewis, Seun Akindele, Caleb Richards, Joshua Richard, Tomike Adeoye, Fadekemi-Aluko, Shalewa Ashafa, Ame Aiyejina, and a host of others. Anticipate the launch date of the show.
