Beyond the Filter: 7 Juicy Secrets About Nengi Adoki You Never Knew

Love Confessions: What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done for love?

Falling in love to begin with. That’s Crayyyyzyyyy. If there’s a next time, I will Crip walk inside with two ‘eye’ open.

Screen to Real Life: Which movie role of yours do you wish you could play in real life?

Hands down it’s Joy from Juju stories! A witch that will go about wounding anybody showing fake love up and down.

Guilty Pleasure: What’s your go-to TV show or movie when you’re feeling lazy?

One Tree Hill. It’s such a comfort show for me and the 90’s babies would understand. They might drag me sha for only just watching it for the first time in 2025!

Dream Role: If you could play any iconic character in a movie remake, who would it be?

It would have to be our famous Queen of the Coast from the 1994 film, Nneka the pretty serpent. Nigerian horror is my bag.

Fashion Faux Pas: What’s the biggest fashion accessory you own?

It would have to be the thigh-high leather boots I wore in my recent birthday photoshoot this past January where I was giving ‘bad girl’ on a motorbike. Ever since the shoot, me and those boots have been inseparable!

On-Set Shenanigans: What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you on set?

I recently just highlighted this on my day 12 on TikTok!  Koye, who plays “A stingy man” on The Most Toasted Girl, went off script while we were filming Episode 5. In the scenario, he told the most toasted, a.k.a me that she had a ‘rottweiling’ appetite because he didn’t want to split the bill at a restaurant. He then BARKED to prove his point.

A literal WOOF! You just have to watch it to get it.  I’ve never broken character while acting on set before but thanks to Koye Kekere-Ekun famously known as K10, I did for the first time and it was hilarious. I fell off my seat laughing at the SCENE.

Superstar Crush: Which Hollywood star would you love to work with (or have lunch with)?

Issa Rae. I’ve been calling your name for a hot minute now. It’s time to call me. I love you baby girl and I love your work.

Acting in Nigeria: What’s the most extreme thing you’ve done to prepare for a role?

So far so good, I’ve yet to find a role that’s gotten me to do anything I would personally consider extreme. I’ve lost some weight in the past for a role, and only if the role demands it. I’ve also worn extra bum bum for a role before but to me, that was just jokes. Women come in all shapes and sizes!

Behind-the-scenes: What’s the biggest misconception people have about being an actress?

That most actresses are on-screen “selling market” and play certain roles for male attention. I hate that in certain spaces people don’t respect the work enough. I’ve experienced people make comments that trivialise the effort that goes into the craft.

Especially given how tricky it is for most women navigating the entertainment industry. Acting is a skill just like any other. It requires study, training and hard work to make the characters we play very believable.

Future Projects: Can you give us a hint about your next big project?

After watching the latest season of The Most Toasted Girl, look out for ‘Amaka’ from Lasgidi Cops coming soon! We concluded principal photography with Canal Plus and Asake productions in August 2024 and I’m excited for everyone to meet her. I’m excited for both!
