“The title ‘The Masked King’ was chosen to depict the central theme of the film: the duality of power and identity,” added Joshua Cassidy, co-producer. “The Masked King” is shrouded in mystery, hinting at the complex web of secrets and lies that drive the plot. Director Uduak-Obong Patrick described his directing style for the film, saying, “I would say that my directing style is a mix of styles for the audience to experience something different and fresh.
The film is a visual delight because of its vibrant colours, brilliant locations, and elaborate and rich production design.” I hope the audience is transported to a time and experiences a story told from a fresh perspective,” added Patrick.
“The Masked King” is a period piece, with dialogue in both English and Efik, adding to the film’s authenticity and cultural significance. A Fito Fili Films and The7eventhstudio production, the film was shot on location in Calabar, Creek Town, and other historical sites in Nigeria, further immersing audiences in the world of the film.
