Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun is confirmed to the back on the big screens with a new feature The Waiter.

Principal photography is currently ongoing for the film The Waiter directed by Toka McBaror and produced by Ayo Makun Productions. While the full details of the film are yet to be communicated, the BTS revealed the presence of Nollywood actors including Regina Daniel, Deyemi Okanlawon, Rahama Sadau, Brain Jotter, William Uchemba and many others.
According to the producer Ayo Makun, the movie is set for release in December 2024.
In the Nigerian film industry, December is known for the season of box office movie competition as a result of the general end-of-the-year holiday. Every December, certain filmmakers are consistent at the box office such as Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Ebonylife Studios and many others.
The competition gets heightened by the year as more filmmakers join the list. After the one billion naira box office gross record that was broken by Funke Akindele in 2023, it is no surprise that filmmakers have started the promotion of their films midway into the year.

Ayodeji Richard Makun is a Nigerian actor, comedian, radio and TV presenter, writer, producer and film director. He hails from Ifon, Ose local government in Ondo State. He is the host of the A.Y live shows and A.Y comedy skits. His debut movie, 30 Days in Atlanta was produced by him and directed by Robert O. Peters. In addition, Makun was made a U.N Peace Ambassador in 2009 and is now the CEO of Corporate World Entertainment Nigeria.
