Tangent

Faith-based movies started in the 90s and were usually separated from Nollywood, referring to it as the secular movie industry. The Mount Zion Ministries were the early pioneers of Christian films in Nigeria. However, times have changed, people are allowed to share their stories in whatever way they want them to be told and the platform they choose.

Over the years filmmakers like Biodun Stephen, Wale Adenuga and BB Sasore have ventured into faith-based films and they have succeeded in using these films to address societal menace, family struggles and all other issues that make up the religious body we have today.

The recent faith-based film “What About Us”, produced by a renowned Nigerian pastor, achieved remarkable success by grossing N100M at the box office, earning it the title of the highest-grossing faith cinema product
