The Story⚡
Shock Africa is launching Stagecall Magazine, a new dedicated publication focused on African stage and theatre culture.

Tell Me More
The pan-African media company, already known as the first news source for African filmmakers, is now expanding its coverage to include live theatre with Stagecall Magazine. The new vertical will feature production coverage, show reviews, theatre news, event listings, and profiles of African talent working both on the continent and on international stages.
Stagecall Magazine launches on Thursday, July 10, 2026, on Instagram at @stagecallmag. It aims to document the current activity in African theatre, including sold-out productions, new theatre spaces, and the work of playwrights, directors, and performers. The publication positions itself as a consistent record for a sector that has seen renewed activity in recent years.
In a statement, Akintunde Damilare, Co-Founder & Editorial Director of Shock Africa, said: “The stage never left Africa; we just stopped documenting it. Theatre is back, and it never really went anywhere. We missed the first wave. We are not missing this one. Stagecall is our commitment to being present, being first, and making sure every curtain call on this continent is on the record.”
The new magazine joins Shock Africa’s existing portfolio, which includes The Actor’s Chair, Director’s Eye, Box Office Radio, State of Nollywood Industry Table Talk, Nollywood Watch Weekly, 9:16, and Indie Film Africa Searchlight.
In Summary
Stagecall Magazine is now live on Instagram. Follow @stagecallmag from July 10, 2026, for regular coverage of African stage productions, news, and talent.
