Tell Me More

Dreammark Collective has wrapped principal photography on Independence, a new short film directed by Rete Poki and produced by Elvis Damptey. The film follows Jasperwills Ebuka, Jahdiel Simon, and Temidayo Akinboro as three siblings who come together to sort through their late father’s belongings. As they go through his things, old tensions rise, buried memories surface, and each must face the gap between what they remember and what actually happened.

The story centers on nostalgia and the difficult work of separating memory from truth. Through this intimate family setting, the film looks at grief, personal identity, and how loss continues to shape people long afterward.

Rete Poki directed the film from a screenplay co-written with producer Elvis Damptey. Damptey produced the project under Dreammark Collective, with Riyo David serving as associate producer. The film is now in post-production and is being prepared for submission to international film festivals in the coming months.

Damptey described the project as a personal story about family, memory, grief, and the versions of ourselves that remain after someone is gone. This marks the start of an ongoing creative partnership between Damptey and Poki, focused on character-driven narratives that feel culturally rooted and emotionally honest.

In Summary

Currently in post-production, Independence will begin its festival circuit soon, with further updates expected on its journey and any release plans.
