With a dedicated team, the film blends storytelling with a rich soundscape to explore the cost of ambition and the path to redemption.

The director and producers share their insights in an exclusive Q&A with Shocknewsroom

What truth does this feature film reveal?

Uyoyou Adia – Director/Writer: EVI exposes how creatives live in bubbles, disconnected from reality. It reveals the uncomfortable truth that fame does not equal fulfillment.

It exposes the emotional cost of success, especially for women constantly expected to be who they’re not. The film ultimately shows that facing oneself without the noise, rediscovering oneself ,and finding inner peace is a roller coaster of emotions. Its survival.

It explores what happens when everything collapses, forcing you to face yourself without distractions. It’s about rediscovering purpose, learning humility, and finding meaning after the applause fades. Ultimately, EVI shows that true success is about healing and finding peace in who you are when the spotlight dims.

What makes this project matter to you?

Judith Audu – Producer: EVI matters to me because it reflects the realities of the creative industry and the emotional toll it takes on those who pursue their dreams. I’ve worked with artists whose journeys resemble Evi’s, full of hope and talent, yet tested by a system that often overlooks authenticity or well-being. Through EVI, we tell a story that humanizes fame, showing the person behind the headlines fighting to maintain their sanity, dignity, and sense of self.

This project is personal because I’ve seen the sacrifices of chasing success, the loneliness behind applause, and the courage needed to start over. It’s a story of survival, identity, and second chances, especially for women who are often silenced or overlooked. EVI is a tribute to every dreamer who has fallen and found the strength to rise again—not for validation, but for truth, purpose, and peace.

What was the journey of this collaborative filmmaking process?

Damilola Osikoya – Producer: The journey has been fulfilling and a process of growth for everyone involved. From the start, our team shared a commitment to telling a story that feels real, layered, and musical. Collaboration meant ongoing discussions, late-night creative meetings, and blending different artistic styles to balance story, sound, and emotion. I believe in creating with purpose and showing that Africa builds meaningful stories when we work together. This journey was about creating something lasting.

In Summary
