1. Midnight in Shangisha
Written by Sola Osofisan and co-directed by Ben Chiadika and Sola Osofisan, Midnight in Shangisha stars Sola Sobowale, Tina Mba, and Baaj Adebule. The film tells the story of a desperate job seeker who, lured by a dream offer on a borrowed phone, arrives for what he believes is a job interview—only to discover he’s walked into a deadly trap. The position turns out to be for a contract killer, and his fiancée is taken hostage by a hitman to force his compliance.
Midnight in Shangisha hits cinemas nationwide on July 4, 2025.
2. Her Excellency
Directed by Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami, Her Excellency is a gripping drama about a power-hungry First Lady whose quest for control unravels when a murder investigation threatens to expose the dark secrets behind her glamorous facade.
The film, in both Yoruba and English, features a star-studded cast including Aisha Lawal, Aliu Gafar, Bimbo Ademoye, Bola Oyin Adejobi, Faithia Williams, Femi Adebayo Salami, Jide Kosoko, Kie Kie (Bukunmi Adebowale), Muinaat Mustapha, Mukarar Omo, Muyiwa Ademola, Odunlade Adekola, Sola Sobowale, and Yemi Solade.
Her Excellency opens in cinemas across Nigeria on July 4, 2025.
3. Salon 001
Salon 001 is a new web series created and produced by Bolu Essien and directed by Biodun Stephen. Premiering on YouTube on July 4, the series was announced by Essien on Instagram:
“Salon 001 will be out July 4th on YouTube! My team and I have worked with amazing talents behind and in front of the camera. It truly takes a lot of work to bring stories to life. I’m not a perfectionist but I am really diligent when I lay my hands on something. As you watch from Friday (weekly), just know that we’ve put in so much… Money, time, sleepless nights, and everything in between. Watching it is the only reward.”
The show stars Genoveva Umeh, Juliana Olayode, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, and others.
4. TBAF
Produced by Bimbo Ademoye, TBAF features Bimbo Ademoye herself alongside Kunle Remi, Uzor Arukwe, and Deyemi Okanlawon. The series will premiere on Bimbo Ademoye’s YouTube channel on July 4.
5. Out in the Darkness
Written and directed by Sarah Kwaji, Out in the Darkness follows Bolu, a new mother battling mental health struggles after the birth of her second child. Haunted by vivid visions and hallucinations, Bolu’s reality begins to crumble. When doctors dismiss her condition as normal postpartum challenges, her isolation deepens—pushing her to the brink.
Starring Kehinde Bankole, Deyemi Okanlawon, Bimbo Akintola, Jide Kosoko, Darasimi Nadi, and Tina Mba, the film premiered at the NollywoodWeek (NOW) Film Festival 2025 and opens in cinemas across Nigeria on July 4.
6. The Lost Days
Produced by Natives Filmworks and Michelangelo Productions, this film is directed by Wingonia Ikpi and stars Ifeoma Fafunwa, Bimbo Manuel, Baaj Adebule, Cynthia Clarke, Durotimi Okutagidi Adebule, among others. The Lost Days is set to premiere on Prime Video on July 11.
7. Zikoko Life
Zikoko is bringing its widely-read serials—Naira Life, Love Life, and Sex Life—to the screen in a new three-part anthology series, Zikoko Life, produced by Bluhouse Studios and created by Anita E. Eboigbe. The series, premiering July 12 on YouTube, features standalone stories: What’s Left of Us (starring Caleb Richards and Tolu Asanu) explores marriage and bodily autonomy; My Body (written and led by Uzoamaka Power alongside Andrew Yaw Bunting) tackles power dynamics in newlywed intimacy; and Something Sweet (featuring Michelle Dede and others) revisits themes of mature romance. With a talented cast and a focus on women’s perspectives, the series marks Zikoko’s leap into fiction, turning its editorial strength into cinematic storytelling.
8. Lowkey Adults
Directed by Susan Pwajok, Lowkey Adults is a young adult film that dives into tangled relationships, raw emotions, and the messy journey of figuring life out.
Starring Mallum Arik, Shamz Garuba, Omosalewa Fafowora, and Adeyy Basqi, the film will launch on YouTube on July 12, 2025.
9. To Kill A Monkey
To Kill A Monkey tells the gripping story of Efemini, an ordinary man whose life is turned upside down by a chance encounter with an old friend. Forced by circumstances to abandon his morals, Efemini plunges into the world of cybercrime, where every choice drags him deeper into a dangerous web of betrayal and life-or-death consequences.
Written, directed, and produced by Kemi Adetiba, the series stars William Benson, Bucci Franklin, Bimbo Akintola, Stella Damasus, Chidi Mokeme, Sunshine Rosman, Lilian Afegbai, Ireti Doyle, Teniola Aladese, and Michael Ejoor.
The series will premiere on Netflix on July 18.
10. Freedom Way
Freedom Way is an action thriller written and produced by Blessing Uzzi and directed by Afolabi Olalekan in his feature directorial debut. The film premiered in the Discovery section at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and won the Special Jury Award at AFRIFF later that year.
Starring Adebowale Adedayo, Bimbo Akintola, Jesse Sunteke, Teniola Aladese, Mike Afolarin, J-Flo, and Akin Lewis, Freedom Way will hit Nigerian cinemas on July 18, 2025.
11. Ewo
Featuring a stellar cast including Bimbo Ademoye, Demola Adedoyin, Tina Mba, Saheed Balogun, Akin Lewis, Taiwo Hassan, and others, Ewo is a Bukana Motion Pictures and Riverside Productions film. It is set to hit cinemas nationwide on July 18 and will be distributed by Nile Entertainment.
