Tell Me More

Principal photography has begun on Oblation, the debut feature film from award-winning filmmaker Chioma Paul-Dike. Produced under Two Shoes Media Production, this supernatural horror builds on the foundation of her acclaimed short film, Dreams.

Written, directed, and produced by Paul-Dike, Oblation is a look into African mysticism and suspense, offering audiences an intense, culture-rich narrative, a film positioned as a fresh voice in Nollywood’s growing horror genre.

Expanding on themes explored in Dreams, Oblation tells the story of Nelo, a heavily pregnant woman whose life spirals into chaos when vivid nightmares of a mysterious woman warn her to leave her ancestral home. As the line between dreams and reality blurs, Nelo faces secrets that challenge her very survival.

“I am a staunch enthusiast of the horror genre, having watched and enjoyed many horror films like Chucky, Karashika, The Conjuring, Mark of the Beast, Egg of Life, and The Bye Bye Man, amongst others. That has led to me being always drawn to stories rooted in African spirituality and culture,” says Paul-Dike. “Oblation is an expansion of my short film Dreams, and I’ve used this medium to explore the balance between fear, instinct, and revenge. Horror is a universal genre, but I believe African myths bring a unique richness to the storytelling”.

The film stars Onyinye Odokoro in the lead role, with an ensemble cast that includes Nollywood icons Kelechi Udegbe, Chioma Chukwuka, Bucci Franklin, Ebere Okaro, Amanda Oruh, and Ruby Akubueze.

Production will conclude by the end of January 2025, with post-production scheduled from February to April. The film will make its debut on the international festival circuit mid-year before premiering globally in November 2025.

Known for its dedication to authentic African narratives, Two Shoes Media Production describes Oblation as more than just a horror movie. “This is more than just a horror film; it’s a deeply personal story about courage and the consequences of ignoring one’s instincts,” says Paul-Dike.

In Summary

With Dreams having garnered acclaim at prestigious festivals such as AFRIFF, SVAFF, and BHERC, Paul-Dike’s transition to feature-length filmmaking signals an exciting chapter in Nollywood’s storytelling evolution. Oblation promises to captivate audiences with its seamless blend of supernatural suspense and profound cultural depth.
