This feature drama shot in August 2022 follows Ronke’s journey through life and love.
After her long-time boyfriend is thrust into a life of fame, Ronke is torn between a love she has always known and the life she has always wanted,
Set to be released this March, Rush Hour features a star-studded cast including Alex Ekubo, Sandra Okunzuwa, Mercy Aigbe, Nosa Rex, Anita Joseph, Etinosa Idemudia, and more.
Written and directed by Dabby Chimere, the nigerian production has been confirmed to be a direct-to-streaming title.
Directing Approach
“The genre is drama, but with a lot of comic relief”, shares Director Chimere.
“when creating the story I just wanted to tell a beautiful love story about an aspiring musician and his love life, so I didn’t want to focus on the cliche of just his struggle to become a successful musician!
Rather we focused on him achieving fame and having all this money but had to fight for the love of his life who’s been distracted by a very interesting character. So I worked with Mannie who wrote head over bills, he understood my idea perfectly and we both wrote the script through four drafts to come to a final shooting draft.
Directing the feature wasn’t a challenge, because I already knew what I wanted with each character and I was very careful with casting because casting the right people for each character makes it easier!
As for the Lekan character, I wanted an actual singer and made sure we got one! And each cast had their unique strengths and it was easy for me to get what I wanted from them”.

While Amazon has ceased production of new Amazon Originals in Africa, it will continue to roll out approved shows like “Ebuka Turns Up Africa,” maintaining its presence in the region. However, the platform will no longer greenlight local shows in sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and North Africa.
Despite this shift, Amazon Prime still provides opportunities for filmmakers to showcase their personal productions on the platform, presenting opportunities for Nigerian filmmakers like Dabby Chimere. This presents a global platform for their work beyond traditional cinema releases, facilitating broader exposure and cultural exchange.
Nonetheless, navigating the digital landscape requires innovative strategies for monetization and sustainability to ensure the continued growth and viability of Nigerian cinema amid evolving distribution models and audience preferences.

Dabs production has promised audiences will love the sincerity of the story, it’s a very relatable story, and you will find yourself in some of the characters!
Overall it’s a love story and some people might be heartbroken by her choice but they will have a good watch.
