Here is a full list of series that Nigerians have been consuming in 2024.

13. Deaths Game

Death’s Game (Korean: 이재, 곧 죽습니다) is a South Korean fantasy mystery thriller series, both written and directed by Ha Byung-hoon. The series stars Seo In-guk and Park So-dam, and is based on the 2019 Naver webtoon by Lee Won-sik and Ggulchan. The narrative centers around a person who, in the throes of frustration, embarks on a new life intertwined with death. Released on TVING from December 15, 2023, to January 5, 2024, at 12:00 (KST), Death’s Game is also available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in selected regions, excluding South Korea and China.

12. Beyond The Veil

Beyond The Veil Season 2 follows a group of five northern Nigerian women as they navigate the complexities of modern life, balancing careers, friendships, romances, and cultural clashes. Created by Nadine Ibrahim and Sifa Asani Gowon, the series is directed by Nadine Ibrahim. The writing team includes Sifa Asani Gowon and Brenda Garuba Ogbuka. 

The show features an impressive cast, including Jemima Osunde, David Adoga, Folawewo Aiyegbusi, Ame Aiyejina, Ummi Baba-Ahmed, and Norah Ego, among others. Executive producers are Nadine Ibrahim, Bilal Ibrahim, Nabil Zeitoun, Fareed Zeitoun, and Ishaya Bako, with Folawewo Aiyegbus serving as the producer.

Premiering exclusively on Prime Video on June 7, 2024, Beyond The Veil Season 2 continues to delve into the lives of these women, showcasing their resilience and the challenges they face in a rapidly changing society.

11. My Man is Cupid 

My Man Is Cupid (Korean: 내 남자는 큐피드) is a captivating South Korean television series crafted by writer Heo Sung-hee and directed by Nam Tae-jin, produced by Moon Bo-mi under HB Entertainment, the series stars Jang Dong-yoon, Nana, and Park Ki-woong. 

Set as an Amazon Prime Video Original, the show aired its episodes from December 1, 2023, to January 20, 2024, every Friday and Saturday. The storyline revolves around Cheon Sang-Hyuk (Jang Dong-Yoon), a charismatic fairy known for his ability to effortlessly make women fall in love with him. 

Intriguingly, 500 years ago, Cheon Sang-Hyuk suffered the burning of his wings. To reclaim his lost wings, he underwent 27 transformations. On his 28th attempt, he becomes entangled with Oh Baek-Ryeon (Nana), setting the stage for a series of transformative encounters and romantic escapades.

10. Maxton Hall – German

Maxton Hall — The World Between Us is a compelling six-part German-language television series available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Adapted from Mona Kasten’s novel Save Me, the series stars Damian Hardung as James Beaufort and Harriet Herbig-Matten as Ruby Bell. 

Premiering on May 9, 2024, the show achieved record-breaking success, marking the most successful launch of any non-American Prime Original to date. The plot centers on Ruby Bell, a sharp-witted scholarship student who inadvertently witnesses a clandestine event at Maxton Hall. This incident pits her against James Beaufort, an arrogant heir determined to silence her. However, their adversarial relationship sparks an unexpected connection between them.

Directed by Martin Schreier and Tarek Roehlinger, the series delves into themes of privilege, secrets, and the complex dynamics of love and power within the elite world of Maxton Hall.

9. Invincible – American

Invincible is an animated superhero series created by Robert Kirkman, available on Amazon Prime Video. Based on the popular Image Comics series he co-created with Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, the show is a production of Skybound Entertainment, Wind Sun Sky Entertainment, Point Grey Pictures, and Amazon MGM Studios.

The series chronicles the journey of teenager Mark Grayson as he navigates his transformation into a superhero under the guidance of his father, Nolan Grayson / Omni-Man, who is revered as the most powerful superhero on Earth. Mark grapples with balancing his personal life and newfound responsibilities, aiming to prove himself as a hero worthy of his father’s legacy.

Starring Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson / Invincible, Sandra Oh as Mark’s mother, and J. K. Simmons as Nolan Grayson / Omni-Man, the series features a diverse cast with recurring roles enhancing the superhero narrative. Invincible premiered on March 25, 2021, and its debut season of eight episodes concluded on April 29, 2021.

8. Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power – American

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is an American fantasy television series developed by J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay for Amazon Prime Video. Based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s extensive Middle-earth lore, especially the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, the series is set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, exploring the significant events of Middle-earth’s Second Age.

Produced by Amazon Studios in association with New Line Cinema, the epic drama follows an ensemble cast of both familiar and new characters. As they face the long-feared resurgence of evil in Middle-earth, viewers are drawn into a rich tapestry of fantasy and adventure. The series features Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, and Charlie Vickers among its stars, bringing to life Tolkien’s legendary world

7. Fallout – America

Fallout is an American post-apocalyptic drama television series created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet for Amazon Prime Video. Based on the iconic role-playing video game franchise created by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, the series stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Walton Goggins. 

Premiering on April 10, 2024, Fallout explores the aftermath of the Great War of 2077, a devastating nuclear conflict between the United States and China. Set in an alternate history where post-World War II advancements in nuclear technology led to a retrofuturistic society and subsequent resource war, the series delves into the struggles and resilience of humanity in a ravaged world.

6. Ebuka Turns Up  Africa – Nollywood

Spearheaded by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, six celebrities embark on an African adventure, navigating clashing personalities and tested friendships as they traverse the continent’s diverse landscapes. Joining Ebuka are actor Timini Egbuson, actor Zubby Michael, presenter and hype man Jimmie Akinsola, entertainment impresario Onoja Adole, and photographer Alistair Englebert Preston. This exciting series, produced by Erika Klopper and Ziyanda Ngcaba, premiered on March 1, 2024.

5. Reacher – American

Reacher is an American action crime television series developed by Nick Santora for Amazon Prime Video, based on the popular Jack Reacher book series by Lee Child. The show stars Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher, a former U.S. Army military police major with extensive investigative and combat experience. Now a drifter, Reacher prefers a nomadic lifestyle, traveling from town to town across the United States. Known for his formidable strength, intellect, and abilities, Reacher frequently encounters dangerous criminals and is compelled to confront them. The series also features Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald, Bruce McGill, and others in supporting roles. it is on its second season.

4. Mr and Mrs Smith – American

Mr. & Mrs. Smith is an American spy television series created by Francesca Sloane and Donald Glover, who also stars in a lead role alongside Maya Erskine. Inspired by the 2005 film of the same name, the series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on February 2, 2024. The plot follows two strangers who independently agree to become secret agents for a mysterious organization, posing as a married couple under the aliases “John” and “Jane” Smith. Each episode presents the couple with a new mission, testing both their espionage skills and their developing relationship, all while receiving instructions from an anonymous source via text. The series explores various locales and the evolving dynamics of their assumed marital relationship. The cast also includes Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza González, and others. 3. Wheel of Time – American 

The Wheel of Time is an American fantasy television series developed by Rafe Judkins for Amazon Prime Video. Based on the book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, the show stars Rosamund Pike, Daniel Henney, Zoë Robins, Madeleine Madden, and others. The story follows Moiraine Damodred, a member of the Aes Sedai, a powerful organization of women who can channel the One Power. She seeks out a group of five young people from the secluded village of Emond’s Field in the Two Rivers, believing that one of them is the reincarnation of the Dragon, an immensely powerful male channeller responsible for the Breaking of the World. The Dragon Reborn is prophesied to either save the world from the Dark One, a primordial evil, or break it once more. The first season, consisting of eight episodes, premiered on Prime Video on November 19, 2021. Rosamund Pike also serves as a producer.

2. Marry My Husband – Korean

Marry My Husband (Korean: 내 남편과 결혼해줘) is a 2024 South Korean television series written by Shin Yoo-dam and directed by Park Won-guk and Han Jin-seon. The series stars Park Min-young, Na In-woo, Lee Yi-kyung, and Song Ha-yoon. Based on a web novel of the same name, the story follows Ji-won, who is murdered by her husband, who is having an affair with her best friend. After her death, Ji-won is mysteriously transported back 10 years into the past, giving her a chance to change her fate and alter the course of her life.

1.  She Must Be Obeyed – Nigeria

She Must Be Obeyed is a comedy miniseries that premiered on September 29, 2023. The five-part series features a star-studded cast including Funke Akindele, Nancy Isime, Lateef Adedimeji, Akah Nnani, Patience Ozokwor, Mike Ezuronye, ex-BBNaija star Veeiye, Waje, and other notable Nollywood actors. Produced and directed by Funke Akindele and her estranged husband JJC Skillz under Scene One Productions, the series delves into the lives of three successful music stars: SHE (played by Funke Akindele), Tito (played by Veeiye), and X-cite (played by Waje).

Siyanbola Adewale, known as SHE, is portrayed as a character determined to stay at the pinnacle of her career, regardless of whom she has to trample on to get there. As the story unfolds, a group forms to expose SHE’s true nature, leading to a tale of revenge and deception within the competitive music industry. The series provides a sharp commentary on the intense rivalry and backstabbing prevalent in the music scene.

“She Must Be Obeyed” (Prime Video) is the most-watched series in Nigeria, with over 285 days in the top 10.
