21. The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is a 2024 action-comedy directed by Guy Ritchie, who also co-wrote and co-produced the film. Offshoot is a 2023 Nigerian thriller directed by T. Steve Ayeny and written by Temitope Bolade and Diche Enunwa wrote the movie. 18. Beast Of Two Worlds (Ajakaju)

Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju) is a 2024 Nigerian fantasy drama directed by Odunlade Adekola and Adebayo Tijani.  The film stars Odunlade Adekola as King Towobola, Eniola Ajao, Bimbo Akintola, Sola Sobowale, Ibrahim Chatta, and Lateef Adedimeji.  The plot centers on King Towobola, who, after his three wives fail to bear him a son, takes a new wife from another world who promises him an heir under certain conditions.

17. The Beads

The Beads is a 2024 Nigerian drama directed by Moyinoluwa Ezekiel and produced by Akinbayo Morakinyo.  The film features a talented cast, including Zainab Balogun as Ranti, Lateef Adedimeji as Demola, Shaffy Bello as Mrs. Williams, Efa Iwara as Ehi, and Segun Arinze as Mr. Obi.

16. Atunwa

Atunwa (also known as “Reincarnation”) is a 2023 Nigerian drama directed and produced by Adetokunbo Shittu.  The film features a talented cast, including Kehinde Bankole as Kemi, Abayomi Alvin, Mary Augustine, Gbubemi Ejeye, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Jide Kosoko, Tina Mba, Toyin Bifarin Ogundeji, Tolulope Oke, Hafiz Oyetoro, Emem Ufot, and Okey Uzoeshi. 

The plot centers on Kemi, whose past life continues to haunt her after being reincarnated, leading to several challenges that shake the foundation of her family.  The film delves into themes of past lives and their impact on present relationships.

Atunwa was released in Nigerian cinemas on March 24, 2023, and became available for streaming on Prime Video on September 20, 2024.

15.Water & Garri

Water and Garri is a 2024 Nigerian drama directed by Meji Alabi. The film stars Tiwa Savage as Aisha, an ambitious fashion designer who returns to Nigeria after a decade in the U.S. following a family bereavement. Back home, she confronts escalated violence and reconnects with family, old friends, and a past love, forcing her to face the guilt she left  behind. 

The movie premiered globally on Prime Video on May 10, 2024.  

14. Lakatabu

Lakatabu is a 2024 Nigerian film directed by Femi Adebayo.  The movie features a talented cast, including Femi Adebayo, Ibrahim Chatta, and Adebayo Salami.  The plot revolves around a man who, after acquiring special powers, begins to use them for criminal activities, endangering the lives of citizens. His downfall becomes imminent when he kidnaps the daughter of someone who wronged him. 

The film was released in Nigerian cinemas on June 21, 2024.  It is currently available for streaming on Prime Video. 

13. Alaye

Alaye is a 2024 Nigerian film directed by Okey Ifeanyi, with Ruth Kadiri as a producer.  The movie features a talented cast, including Rosie Afuwape, Ekele Angela, Hope Ataene Spurgeon, Opara Gloria Chinasa, Chris Esomchi, Monica Friday, Nonso Ibeh, Aloma Isaac Junior, Ruth Kadiri, and Atewe Raphael. 

Alaye, centers around a young lady named  Catherine,who is burdened by debt from her deceased father’s illness who then endures the presence of a rough and unrefined lodger named Funmi.Initially, she judges Funmi based on her first impression however, her perspective shifts dramatically when Funmi saves her and pays off her debt, proving her first impression wrong. Alaye has a runtime of 1 hour and 33 minutes and is categorized under Comedy, Romance, and Suspense genres.  As of now, the film is available for streaming on Prime Video. 

12. The Betrayed

The Betrayed is a 2024 Nigerian drama directed by Zulumoke Oyibo.  The film stars Gabriel Afolayan, Uche Montana, Ibrahim Suleiman, and Jemima Osunde. 

The story follows Amarachi, whose seemingly perfect life unravels when her husband is arrested for the murder of his girlfriend. Caught in a web of secrets, Amarachi must choose between loyalty and confronting a horrifying truth. 

The Betrayed is available for streaming on Prime Video.  The film has received positive feedback, holding an IMDb rating of 7.3.  

 

11. Funmilayo Ransom Kuti

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti is a 2024 Nigerian biographical film directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters, who also produced the movie.  The screenplay was written by Tunde Babalola.  The film features a talented cast, including Kehinde Bankole as the younger Funmilayo, Joke Silva as the older Funmilayo, Ibrahim Suleiman as Israel Ransome-Kuti, Jide Kosoko, and Dele Odule. 

The plot chronicles the life of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, from her pioneering days as the first female student at Abeokuta Grammar School to her marriage to Israel Ransome-Kuti. Together, they established the Abeokuta Women’s Union, leading to significant confrontations with colonial and traditional authorities in their fight for justice and equality. 

The film was released in Nigerian cinemas on May 17, 2024.  It is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.  The movie has received positive reviews, winning Best Overall Feature Film and Best Screenplay at the 2023 Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF)

10. Apocalypse Z:The Beginning Of The End 

Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End is a 2024 Spanish zombie action thriller directed by Carles Torrens, with Adrián Guerra as the producer.  The screenplay was written by Ángel Agudo, based on the novel by Manel Loureiro.  The film stars Francisco Ortiz as Manel, alongside Iria del Río, José María Yazpik, Berta Vázquez, and Francisco Ortiz. 

The story follows Manel, a lawyer living in isolation after the death of his wife. A year later, a rabies-like virus called TSJ spreads across Europe, turning people into aggressive creatures. Manel attempts to reunite with his sister in the Canary Islands, navigating dangerous roads filled with infected individuals. 

The film premiered at the 57th Sitges Film Festival on October 5, 2024, and was released on Prime Video on October 31, 2024.

9. All’s Fair in Love

All’s Fair in Love follows the story of Demi and Kanla, two successful entrepreneurs whose close friendship is tested when they both fall for the same woman, Mbali. Their once-perfect world begins to unravel as Mbali, who initially has no idea of their mutual feelings, becomes the object of their affection. 3. Muri and Ko

After an impressive eight-week cinema run, grossing over ₦130 million at the box office, Muri and Ko is now available on Prime Video. Directed and written by Biodun Stephen, the film tells the gripping story of Muri, a thief who unexpectedly finds a child in the car he steals.

As he evades the authorities, who are on the hunt for him with a ₦10 million bounty, Muri forms a bond with the young passenger. The film stars Kunle Remi, Bisola Aiyeola, and Femi Jacobs, among others.


2 . My Spy: The Eternal City

My Spy: The Eternal City brings back Dave Bautista as JJ and Chloe Coleman as Sophie in this action-packed sequel to My Spy (2020). Directed by Peter Segal and written by Erich and Jon Hoeber, the film takes JJ and Sophie on a wild ride through Italy, mixing spy missions with teenage drama.

This time, Sophie is on a high school choir trip to Rome, but of course, things don’t stay simple. JJ gets pulled into a dangerous mission to stop a nuclear threat against Vatican City, and somehow, Sophie ends up right in the middle of the chaos. Between dodging bad guys and balancing school activities, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

1. Breath of Life

Breath of Life is a 2023 Nigerian drama that explores faith, loss, and redemption. Written and directed by BB Sasore, the film was executively produced by Sasore and Derin Adeyokunnu, with Eku Edewor as producer. It premiered on November 15, 2023, as an Amazon Prime Video original, making it the first film in a three-project collaboration between Nemsia Films and Amazon Studios. The story follows Timi, a brilliant young man who becomes the first African clergyman in the Church of England. However, tragedy strikes when a ruthless thug, Baby Fire, targets his family, sending Timi into despair and isolation. Just when all seems lost, he meets Elijah, an aspiring priest whose presence helps him rediscover his faith and purpose.
